17 WILL TRAIN
Basketball I Squad Seventeen players have been selected for the Canterbury women’s indoor basketball A grade squad for representative fixtures this winter. The squad will begin training at Cowles Stadium on I May 5. I Only J. McGregor and T. Keelan have not represented Canterbury before. McGregor has captained the New Zealand Universities side. J. Goulden. N. Morrow. M. I Neiman, S. Norman and M. ! Con'.son all represented CanI terbury B last year and have since improved notably. The (rest of the squad is experienced and talented. Canterbury will play its first major tournament of the season in a month’s time and Mr A. Thompson will have little time to improve the squad by coaching. The squad, selected by Mr Thompson and Mesdames J. Phillips and N. Orr, is:— B. Ross, P. Millar. S. Norman (Brighton), J. Taylor, V. (Young (Rex). J. Baker, J. Wairau, H. Middlemiss, S. (Chamberlain (Checkers), B. (Curry (Rebels), J. Goulden, J. McGregor, S. Caldwell ! (University), T. Keelan ((Training College), M. Coul;sen. N. Morrow. M. Neiman I (Y Girls).
