Chcli. Actor's TV Role CSpecial Crspdt. N.Z PA) LONDON, April 27. A former Christchurch actor, Jonathan Elsom. has a leading role in a controversial episode of the Independent Television series. Redcap,” to be shown in London on Friday. He plays an officer who evades a question from his colonel on whether subalterns have held a forbidden "Kanga ,roo Court.” The War Office tried to have the scene cut out of the episode on the grounds that an officer does not lie to his commanding officer. But A.B.C. Television maintained the scene was theatrically valid and offered to give a disclaimer that the series was fictional. Jonathan Elsom has been in England for many years and is one of a group of .actors, including James Fox and Sarah Miles, who produce their own plays between professional engagements.
