Schumann Contest
An international Robert Schumann contest will be held from October 16-27 in Zwickua, East Germany, birthplace of the composer. The competition is open to pianists born after October 31, 1938, and singers born after October 31, 1936. Competitors will have to pass two preliminary trials and a final test. Compulsory pieces will include, in addition to works by Schumann, music by Brahms, Mendelssohn, Prokofiev, Bartok, Stravinsky and Hindemith.
