Leather Goods Affected (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copt/righl; MELBOURNE, April 25. The Australian Leather Trades Federation has put a nation-wide ban on repair of footballs, soccer and basketballs made in Red China or any other overseas country. The ban also applies to repairs of imported leather travel goods and handbags. It is intended to protect union members employed in tanneries throughout Australia. The Victorian secretary of the L.T.F. (Mr D. Allen) said today that footballs made in i China were selling in Melbourne for about six dollars i—little more than half the , price of top Australian-made Ifootballs.
