Dashing Trial At Invercargill “The Press** Special Service INVERCARGILL. BeHbndge. whose latest efforts hate been well below his best, worked in dashing style at Invercargttl yesterday. In an attempt to get him to race more generously, he was worked in a hood and will be allowed to use rt on race day. He was joined by Earl Howe at the five, and the pair finished together. BeKbridge ran seven furlongs in Imin 35sec, the last five in Imin 7 3-ssec and the last half in 54sec. It was a good gallop on heavy ground. The trestles were 35ft out on the course proper and the track, although improved by fine weather, was easy. Segundo, Soncerai and Cherokee Brave worked over a round and finished from the half-mile in 55sec. Segundo and Soncerai finished well clear of Cherokee Brave, which will be withdrawn from the Rosedale Handicap. Indian Briar finished ahead of Miss Gidget, with Derwent View a length back in a run over five furlongs in Imin 9sec, the last has done weCH since her winning run at Riverton. Captain Howe sprinted three furlongs on his own in 39 4-ssec, but more impressive in a solo run over the same ground was Bellesse, which ran the last two furlongs in 29sec. She was hard held. Proud Boy gave a dashing display over five hurdles. He ran dow’n the second to last hurdle, but otherwise gave an excellent showing. He wiCil race over hurdles on the second day of the Southland meeting.
