ROBBERY CHARGES
Three Youths Sentenced (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 20. Robbery was regarded as a serious offence by the courts. Mr W. J. Meade. S.M„ told three youths when they appeared before him today for sentence on charges of robbery and theft. He sentenced James Alan Watters, aged 20. a carpenter’s labourer, to 18 months’ imprisonment on charges of robbing Bruce Kenneth Gray of £3 14s and one charge of stealing £l3 10s from an unknown person or persons unknown. Edward Richard Flether, aged 18, a builder’s labourer, who was jointly charged with Watters, had the maximum term of borstal training which he is serving at present, extended by one year. Hubert Manukau, aged 20. a builder’s labourer, had the borstal sentence he is serving at present extended by six months on a charge of stealing £l3 10s from an unknown person. All three accused had pleaded guilty last week.
Pedestrian Hurt.—Mr W. Barry, of 74 Dyers road, suffered slight head and leg injuries when hit by a car in Tuam street about 12.15 pun. yesterday.
