Spillane Rugby To Wellington

Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH The final of the Spillane Cup Rugby contest went into extra time at Palmerston North yesterday before Wellington won when Palmerston North was forced over its deadball line. The scores stood at six-all In the Ham Cuming section final, Te Awamutu outplayed Rotorua to win 25-nil.

Putaruru beat Hamilton 19-5 in a Ham Cuming game. The Gisborne side caused an upset by beating last sea son’s Spillane Cup winner, Napier, 25-6. Auckland fought back well to beat Wanganui 12-9 in the Moran Cup section. The play-off for the Bren nan Cup was between Wairoa and Hutt Valley, with Wairoa winning 11-9 by a try in the final minute of the game.
