ASHBURTON, March 27. An Ashburton man who was blackberrying in the Ashburton river bed on Saturday, became “bushed” in thick undergrowth when darkness fell and had to spend a wet and restless night in the open. The man, Mr R. C. Pomeroy, of River road, Ashburton, walked out at 7.45 a.m. today, little the worse for his experience, just as a search party of 31 civilians and five policemen was setting out to look for him.

W'hen he failed to return by nightfall on Saturday the police were advised and asearch was made on both banks of the river in bad conditions.
