MIXED A GRADE

Successful Fendalton

Fendaiton distinguished Itself by winning the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association’s first mixed A grade competition at Wilding Park on Saturday when it beat the winner for the last two seasons, • Avonside, 11 matches to 5. in the last round. Avonside finished third, and Cashmere which had won for four years before Avonside, was second this season.

The points were:—Fendalton 143, Cashmere 112, Avonside 111, Opawa 103, Beckenham 101, Spreydon 66, New Brighton 54, Elmwood 38.

In its match with Avonside. Fendalton won two mens’ singles, three women’s singles, one men’s doubles, both women’s doubles and three mixed doubles.

The team comprised M. C. Healey, J. Ulrich, E. Simpson, J. Harris, Mrs L. Buxton, Mrs L. Nation. Miss H. Caldwell, Miss M. A. McNish. First Mixed A.—Beckenham beat Spreydon by 13 matches to 12; Fendalton beat Avonside by 11 matches to 5; Opawa beat New Brighton by 14 matches to 2: Cashmere beat Elmwood by 13 matches to 3.

First Mixed B. —Shirley beat University by 11 matches to 5; St. Albans beat Addington Catholic by 13 matches to 3; Woolston beat Elmwood by 15 matches to 1.
