Man In Bush When Told Of Lottery Win
(N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, March 24. A leading bushman in a Kaingaroa forest thinning gang today won the £12,000 first prize in Golden Kiwi Lottery No. 244, drawn in Wellington. He is Mr Roddy Clay, aged 32. Mr Clay, a single man, was in the bush when the news of his win arrived. Forest Service headquarters at Kaingaroa dispatched a truck to take the good news to Mr Clay and bring him back to the village. The £lOOO prize in the lottery was won by an Ashburton ticket.
Second prize went to “Devil Car 113,” Auckland district, with ticket No. 114420, and third to the "K. 0. syndicate.
