Aust. Sends Champions

WELLINGTON. Two Australian amateur boxing champions have been matched against New Zealand boxers in final Empire Games trials at Wellington next month.

The Australians, R. Kelly (Tasmania) and H. Wagner (New South Wales), will fight W. Kini (Auckland), the reigning New Zealand heavyweight champion, and B. Forder (Wellington) respectively, on April 21.

Forder, the former Northeast London champion, recently defeated the national light heavy-weight champion, Opetaia (Auckland) convincingly on points. The matchings for the final trials were: Heavy-weight: Kini (Auckland) v. KeUy (Tasmania). Light heavy-weight: Forder (Wellington) v. Wagner. Light middleweight: D. Atul (Manawatu) v. T. Dunn (Wellington).

Welter-weight: E. Buchanan (Southland) v. G. Clifford (Wellington). Light welter-weight: S. Scales (Otago) v. W. Graham (Wellington. Light-weight: P. Domney (Wellington) v. F. McGlinchey (Canterbury). Feather-weight: B. Kendall (Canterbury) v, I. Woodham (Hawke’s Bay). Bantam-weight: R. Redden (Wellington) v. J. Wright (Manawatu). Fly-weight: W. Young (Auckland) v. M. Wright (Manawatu).
