Appointment Of Kenyan (N.Z.P. A .-Reuter—Copyrig lit) LONDON, March 15. Coventry is to have Britain's first coloured policeman —23-year-old Mohamed Yusuf Daar, a native of Kenya and a former officer in the Tanganyikan police service. He was introduced at a news conference today by the chairman of Coventry watch committee, Cr. W. Spencer. Mr Daar had fulfilled all the qualifications and would soon undergo the normal training course for police recruits, Cr. Spencer said. Mr Daar speaks six languages- Until recently he worked in a local factory.
