LONGER TO PREPARE

Six Weeks In Mexico (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Acclimatisation for the 1968 Olympic Games at Mexico City could be extended to six weeks, after the International Olympic Committee meeting next month. The move for the extension of the acclimatisation period from the normal three weeks to six is likely to be made by the United States after the publishing of results of medical experiments at high altitude in Mexico City. The former chairman of the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association, Mr H. I. Austad, said that an increase in the acclimatisation period, which has already been extended to a month, would make a tremendous difference in Games costs.

He said New Zealand could not prejudge the situation.
