FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.— A slow-moving anti-cyclone centred between Cook Strait and the Chatham Islands extends over New Zealand. A trough of low pressure is moving eastwards over the South Tasman Sea. Forecast. Canterbury, Buller and North Westland.— winds light to moderate and variable apart from moderate north-easterlies in most places near the East Coast; scattered areas of low cloud or fog night and morning but otherwise fine; mild or warm day temperatures. Outlook: Fine in Canterbury after clearance of morning low cloud. Rain in Westland; scattered falls later in Buller. South Westland.—Moderate northerlies predominating during the day; skies mainly cloudy with some scattered rain developing during today. Mild. Outlook: Rain. Nelson and Marlborough.—North-westerlies about Cook Strait gradually freshening but elswhere winds light or moderate and variable; scattered areas of low cloud and fog night and morning but the weather mostly fine; mild or warm day temperatures.
