Labour Party Policy
Sir, —In reply to “Disillusioned Nationalist,” the time-payment system flourished long before 1960, and no effort was made under Labour to check this type of trading. The Labour Party would be howling like a pack of wolves if any suggestion were made to remove the timepayment system from our way of life. “Disillusioned Nationalist” should remember that this country has had a price control system for many years, but that did not stop prices rising under both Labour administrations. In a country
where positions outnumber the labour force by about three to one, “Disillusioned Nationalist” must have been having a little day-dream when he met someone begging, which was probably for the price of a drink, anyway. —Yours, etc., F.W.P.F. March 15, 1966.
