Five persons were killed on New Zealand roads at the week-end.

Two Taranaki people were killed at 3.30 a.m. yesterday when a car hit a pole, about eight miles north of Palmerston North. They were: Bryan Patrick Angelsey, aged 26, of 25 King street, Waitara, and

Miss Colleen Olsen, aged 18. of Stratford. The injured are Mrs Valarie Ann Angelsey, aged 22, wife of Brian Patrick Angelsey. who is seriously ill in Palmerston North Hospital: Graham Henry Wills, aged 23, of Fenton street, Stratford, who is in a satisfactory condition: and Miss Carolyn Wills, aged 18, of the same address, who is also satisfactory. The car, which was badly damaged, brought down telephone lines over a wide area. The party had been attending the stock car championships. Died Of Injuries A 74-year-old Fordell woman died from injuries suffered when the car she was driving plunged over a 50ft bank, eight miles east of Wanganui on the Fordell highway, at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday. She was Mrs Frances May Budge, a widow, who died four hours after being admitted to Wanganui Hospital. She was the only occupant of the car. Car Goes Into Creek An Opotiki woman died in Hutt Hospital yesterday of head injuries suffered when her car plunged into a creek off the Stokes Valley road on Saturday. She was: Miss Rohana Richmond, aged 23. Car Hits Pole A man died soon after being admitted to Waikato Hospital, after his car spun off the road and hit a power pole about four miles north of Otorohanga at 3.30 p.m. on Saturday. He was: George Crawford Miln. aged 78, a retired farmer, McNaire road, Te. Awamutu. Cars Collide After two cars collided on the Longburn-Rongotea road, about six miles from Palmerston North, about 11.30 p.m. on Saturday, four men were admitted to Palmerston North

Hospital. One was reported to be in a serious condition yesterday. He is Graham William Payne, of Palmerston North. The other three persons are in a satisfactory condition. Man Hurt

A Foxton man is also in a satisfactory condition in Palmerston North Hospital after a collision on the Fox-ton-Sanson highway, near Foxton, on Saturday afternoon. He is Dahlson Peter Halidone. Car Overturns

A Foxton youth, William Rodney Brooks, aged about 20, suffered hip injuries when the car he was driving on the Foxton-Ocean Beach road overturned about 9.40 a.m. yesterday. The Palmerston North Hospital reported his condition as satisfactory. Soldier Hurt

A 22-year-old soldier. Tangata Herewini, of Linton Camp, received severe leg injuries when the Army vehicle he was driving had an accident within the camp grounds. He was admitted to Palmerston North Hospital soon after 8 p.m. on Saturday and last evening his condition was described as satisfactory.
