Canterbury representative tennis teams played matches at Nelson and Blenheim on Saturday so there were no senior women’s inter-club matches. The senior men have finished. Lower grade matches resulted as follows: Senior Reserve North Linwood beat Avonside by 6 matches to 0: Shirley beat Opawa by 6 matches to 0: Fendalton beat Beckenham by 5 matches *o 1: United beat Barrington by 6 matches to 0. Second Grade Men Shiley beat United by 7 sets to 6: St. Albans beat Avonside by 4 matches to 2; University beat Woolston by 9 sets to 6: 6-0, 7-5; Miss Andrew lost to Mrs Hanna, 4-6, 5-7; Miss Bishop lost to Mrs Ingrish, 5-7, 6-0, 1-6; Miss Habgood lost to Mrs Buckton, 2-6, 5-7; Miss Field beat Mrs Goodall, 6-1, 8-6. Doubles.—Misses Bishop and Habgood lost to Mesdames Goodall and Hanna, 0-6, 1-6: Misses Field and Andrew beat Mesdames Ingrish and Buckton, 6-4, 1-6,. 6-4; Misses Field and Andrew lost to Mesdames Goodall and Hanna, 4-6, 2-6; Misses Bishop and Habgood lost to Mesdames Ingrish and Buckton, 3-6, 9-7, 2-6.
Riccaton Domain beat North Linwood by 3 matches to 2. First Grade Mixed
Beckenham beat New Brighton by 14 sets to 13: Avonside beat Opawa by 9 matches to 7: Fendalton beat Cashmere by 9 matches to 7: Spreydon beat Elmwood by 12 matches to 4. Second Grade Mixed
Barrington beat South Brighton by 14 matches to 2; Waimairi beat New Brighton bv 15 matches to 1; South Christchurch beat St. Albans by default.
