FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A weak anti-cyclone to the north of the country is moving eastwards and a narrow ridge of high pressure lies east of the country. Forecast: Canterbury and the Kaikoura coast. —Light variable winds, mainly northerly; mostly partly cloudy and warm, but scattered fog and drizzle morning and evening and a few isolated heavier showers likely during the day, especially about the ranges. Outlook: occasional rain developing. Central Marlborough, the Sounds, Nelson, Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate northerly winds, freshening slowly about Cook Strait; rather dull, mild and humid, with fog and drizzle areas morning and evening; scattered showers during the day, mostly light, and isolated heavy showers about the ranges, probably with some thunder.
