THE POSITION— The office of Field Service Officer is a permanent appointment and he will be based in South Auckland with offices in Papakura. RESPONSIBILITIES— He will be responsible to promote the aim and objects of the Company; he will service pig, dairy and poultry farms, and follow up the efficient use of our products. FACILITIES— The Field Service Officer is backed by first class products and a modern laboratory equipped with the latest up to date facilities. Tests and experiments in poultry and stock feeds are continuous and the latest information in seed technology is applied. QUALIFICATIONS— A diploma of agriculture or a guild certificate while not absolutely necessary is highly desirable. The man we require will have had practical experience in the commercial application of farming covering dairy, pig and particularly poultry. He must have a pleasant personality and be able to work as a member of a team dedicated to the service of the industry. We require a mature person who will be able to tackle the job vigorously and enthusiastically. REWARD— The salary envisaged is generous and will be related to the qualifications and experience of the suitable applicant. Superannuation is available and a car will be provided. Telephone 42-120. 3250 GOVERNMENT OF FIJI AN INVITATION TO FIJI IF YOU ARE INTERESTED in spending two or three years working in the South Pacific, the Public Works Department in Fiji invites you to apply for one of the following appointments:— (a) ARCHITECT (b) EXECUTIVE ENGINEER (c) EXECUTIVE ENGINEER (Mechanical) The following minimum qualifications are required: (a) ARCHITECT: Applicants must hold appropriate qualifications and have at least five years’ experience in a position of responsibility. Previous experience in tropical or subtropical design would be an advantage but is not essential. The Government Architect’s Section has a technical staff of 18 and handles all types of work from small rural buildings to urban office blocks constructed by either direct labour or by contract. (b) EXECUTIVE ENGINEER: Two Executive Engineers are required for the Water Supply Section of the Department. Applicants must hold a recognised civil engineering qualification and have at least five years’ post-graduate experience. For the first post, experience in the running and general organisation of water treatment plant and design of water supply installations is necessary. For the second post, experience in the design of water supply treatment plant, pumping stations, pipelines, reinforced concrete structures and tanks is required. (c) EXECUTIVE ENGINEER (Mechanical): Applicants must be Corporate Members of a recognised engineering institute and have at least five years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of marine and industrial engines, civil engineering plant and vehicles. The salary paid for all the above vacancies will be in the scale £F.1341 —1F.2679 depending on qualifications and experience, plus a taxable gratuity of 25 per cent of gross emoluments. (Conversion rate is—£NZ.loo is equivalent to £F.111.) Successful applicants for all the above posts will be stationed in Suva. Tour of duty in each post is two, two and a half or three years. Free tourist class air passages for yourself, your wife and family up to four (4) children will be provided to and from the Colony. Alternatively if childdren are left in New Zealand at school a substantial education allowance will be paid and the Government Will also provide passages for your children to visit you in Fiji twice a year. Leave on a generous scale is granted on the completion of the contract. In addition you are eligible for local leave during a tour. Quarters including heavy furniture will be provided for married officers at a moderate rental.
