Labour Shortage At Lyttelton
Three vessels were idle and one was short manned when work began on the Lyttelton waterfront at 7 a.m. yesterday. An additional 280 men (19 gangs) were required. Idle vessels were the Langkoeas at Cashin Quay, and the Parera, Holmlea and Nankai Maru in the inner harbour. The liner Ceramic was short manned.
