Interfered With Train Signal

AUCKLAND, Feb. 11 Brian Alexander Close took the lives of the people in a train into his hands When ho interfered with a signal control at New Lynn railway station, Mr F. McCarthy, S.M. said in the Magistrate's Court today.

Close, aged 20, a welder, who appeared for sentence on a charge of unlawful interference with the signal, *as fined £5O. He pleaded guilty last week. The Magistrate said he had considered sending Close to gaol or to the Waikeria Detention Centre.
