PROVIDING TRACTORS

Sharemilkers Concerned

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Feb. 11

“The practice prevailing to some extent in certain areas of New Zealand of requiring sharemilkers operating under part two of the Sharemilking Agreements Order (1951) and its amendments, to provide their own tractor and implements as a prerequisite to obtaining a position, is a matter of serious concern to my association.” Mr Dryden Spring, president of the Sharemilkers’ Association, said today. “This practice has been deemed by the Labour Department to be in non compliance with the order. In view of the unsatisfactory nature and wide variation of the terms currently prevailing, my executive is of the opinion that this practice also violates the act itself. “Accordingly my association will take all necessary steps to ensure that section three of the act and clause 14 and 15 of the schedule, are in future complied with," said Mr Spring.
