BANK OPENS BRANCH
Hornby Sixth In Christchurch
The Bank of New Zealand increased the number of its branches in Christchurch to six with the opening of the Hornby branch yesterday. The bank raised its facilities to branch standard after conducting an agency at Hornby for 15 years in a house on the Main South road opposite a large supermarket. The branch will continue working in the house, which has been renovated and equipped with all banking amenities. It is the first branch of any bank in the Hornby area, though three others have agencies. The manager of the Christchurch branch of the Bank of New Zealand (Mr W. L. Travers) said at the opening that the present building was not to be permanent. It would be replaced in due course.
The bank was officially opened by a director of the bank, Mr F. S. Taylor.
