Selling Team For Mirage

(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) CANBERRA, Feb. 8. A joint Australian-French team will go to New Zealand next week to seek to persuade the R.N.Z.A.F. to reequip with Australian-built Mirage jet fighters.

The Minister for ji Supply, Senator D. Henty, and the Minister for Air, Mr P. Howson, announced today in a joint statement that the visit was a result of recent ! discussions between Australian and New Zealand ministers. A message from Wellington yesterday claimed that the Australian Defence Minister (Mr A. Fairhall) had offered extended terms to the NewZealand Defence Minister when Mr Eyre was in Can-; berra last week. Mr Howson said that relations between the R A.A.F and the R.N.Z.A.F. had come much closer after the visit to New Zealand by the Chief of the Air Staff (Air Marshal A. M. Murdoch) and four, R.A.A.F. Mirages for the, opening of the Mangere Air-1 port.

The Ministers said the aircraft and guided weapons supply controller of the Department of Supply (Mr 1. B Fleming) would be in charge of the joint team. There would be three wing commanders from the RA.A.F. and the French

members of the team would be led by a senior engineer of the designer, General Aeronautique Mascel d'Assault.
