Japanese Horsemen Competing In Chch.
/NZ.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) TOKYO. Four Japanese horsemen are preparing to leave Tokyo on February 12 to take part in New Zealand’s fourmeeting show-jump-ing championships. It will be the first time a full Japanese equestrian team has competed overseas, other than in neighbouring Korea and at Olympic Games. The four riders will be provided with horses by the New
Zealand Horse Society and will compete at shows in Dunedin. Waimate, Christchurch and Hastings. They are Nobumasa Hirota, aged 26, the former captain of Tokyo University Riding Club, Teruchio Takamiya, 23, who won the high-jump-ing event in Japan’s national athletic meeting in 1965, and was third in the same class |in the AlWapan Horse Show in the same year. Takaaki Kashiwabara, 21. j the third member of the; i team, won the all Japan student championship in 1964.; and Masao Ogawa. 19, holds' the all-Japan high school I championship.
