OFFICIAL RESIGNS
N.Z. League Secretary (N.Z. Presx Association) AUCKLAND Mr J. E. Knowling will resign as the secretary of the New Zealand Rugby League at the annual meeting on April 15. Mr Knowling has been secretary-treasurer of the national body for 18 years. He took over in 1948 after he had served as treasurer of the Auckland Rugby League for 14 years. He is only the third man to have been the national secretary, the other two being Mr E. W. Watts, the original secretary in 1910, and Mr O. E. Carlaw, who held the position from 1919 until 1948. During Mr Knowling’s period of office the assets of the League have risen from practically nothing to more than £69,000.
