Chilean Is Entry

The Chilean. P. Rodriguez, is the most notable overseas entry for the Gold Leaf invitation tennis tournament at Wilding Park, from next Thursday to Sunday. The Englishman, R. Taylor, is still a likely entrant, but his participation has not yet been confirmed. Mr F. H. G. Johnstone, chairman of the management committee of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis .Association. is at present in Auckland for the W’ills international tournament and he reported yesterday to the association secretary, Mr B. W. Crofts. The other overseas men, now that the three Argentinians have failed to come to Auckland, are the Spanish

junior champion, Jose Gisbert, and the British West Indies champion, R. Russell.

Two new entries among the men will be the Aucklanders, P. B. Becroft and J. H. Lockington. They will add to the other prominent New Zealanders, L. A. Gerrard, B. E. Fairlie, J. B. Souter, R. N. Hawkes and R. G. Clarke.

Among the women, the overseas players will be Rod riguez's wife of a few days, the former Miss M. Bouille, of France, Miss A. Jenkins, of the Australian Universities team, and Miss M. Greenwood, now of Wellington, who was British junior champion in 1963-64.

They will be joined by two leading New Zealand women, Mrs E. Stephan and Miss S. Clement.
