Spoken English In Exam.

LONDON, February 1.

Spoken English, as a recognised examination subject for the Certificate of Secondary Education may be introduced after four years of experiments in the education department of Birmingham University.

Tests of spoken English, worked out in the department, have been used on a group of 273 children in three secondary schools and have brought out some qualities not shown in written English.
