Shot Fired By Prowler

AUCKLAND, Jan. 30.
A shot was fired in the drive of the Remuera road home of an Auckland merchant late tonight after a prowler was surprised in the grounds. Police were called to the scene by Mr A. H. Winstone, a director of Frank Winstone Merchants, Ltd., after the incident.
His son, Mr K. Winstone, was going for a late swim in the property’s pocfl when he surprised a man dressed in dark clothes lurking in the garden.
He approached the man who was about sft Sin to ask him what he was doing. The man shouted a warning to come no doser. When Mr Winstone came within 25 feet the man produced a gun and fired a warning shot over his head.
The prowler then fled up the dark drive and disappeared.
