BURNS SUPPER

Scottish Society Celebration About 140 persons attended the Burns anniversay supper held by the Scottish Society of New Zealand in Christchurch, on Saturday night They sat down to a dinner of cold meat haggis, tatties and neeps (potatoes and turnips), peas, beetroot, pickles, scones and oatcakes. Chief T. A. Gordon welcomed guests, who included Mr H. J. Walker, M.P., and Mrs Walker. Chief L. Nicholas and Mrs Nichol®, of Timaru, and Mr W. Grieve, president of the Methven Caledonian Society, and Mrs Grieve.

The Rev. Angus McLeod, of the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church, gave the Bums memorial speech, and Mr G. L. Robb, of Ashburton, addressed the haggis.
