SIDE-CAR RACING

Introduction At Templeton

Motor-cycle sidecar racing will be introduced to the Templeton Speedway for the first time this season next Saturday night. Three combinations will be. brought down from the Western Springs Stadium in Auckland to race against one another in a series of special events. They will be manned by the three top Auckland side-car teams. They are A. Clarke (rider) and G. Jones (passenger). S. Tolhurst (rider) and C. Wells, and D Tomkins (rider) and N. Dunn Clarke and Jones hold the North Island and Auckland side-car championship. Tolhurst and Weffis were runners-up in both events. Tomkins and Dunn are the leading points scorers in Auckland so far this season and are strong candidates for this season’s North Island championship. They will be on a 656 c.c. Gold Star B.S.A. Clarke and Jones will be using a hybrid made from a J.A.P. motor and a Norton frame. TotAuirat and Wells will be racing ex- v«SISa&C. : .
