FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone lies to the east of New Zealand while troughs of low pressure approach across the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Canterbury and Kaikoura.—Winds, moderate and variable, but fresh north-westerlies inland; some further showers in and near the ranges, elsewhere partly cloudy and warm. Outlook: fair. Marlborough Sounds, Central Marlborough and Nelson.—Northerly winds, fresh to strong about Cook Strait and the Sounds; mainly moderate elsewhere; weather cloudy, warm and humid, with some rain. Outlook: unsettled, with showers. Buller and Westland.—Moderate northerly winds backing westerly; some areas of drizzle, but mainly fair; temperatures mild. Outlook: some showers.
