BIG ROTARY GATHERING

31 Clubs To Be

Represented

More than 600 registrations from 31 clubs have been received for the ninth annual conference of the Christchurch district of Rotary International to be held at the Winter Garden from February 25 to 27. The conference will be opened by the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake), himself a Rotarian, on the evening of February 25. Speakers during business sessions on February 26 will include the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Canterbury (Dr. L. L. Pownall), the districst governor (Mr J. B. Bayley) and Mr W. M. Willis, S.M., who will deal with problems of the day, particularly those affecting young people. Before the conference resumes on Sunday morning, February 27, there will be a church service conducted by the Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt. Rev. A. K. Warren), with the Rev. N. van der Kley, of Westport, as preacher. Sir John Walsh, Dean of the Otago Dental School, will be among the conference speakers. On the afternoon of February 26, wives will be entertained at a garden party at the home of Mr L. Leech, Rangiora.
