YACHT CLUB LOSS

New Plymouth Vandalism (N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 23. The New Plymouth Yacht Club is the latest target of holiday vandals, about 260 ft of mooring rope and heavy weights being cut off the club’s buoys. The damage was discovered at 12.30 p.m. yesterday when club members took the buoys from the storage shed on the seaward side of Moturoa wharf before week-end races. To enable races to be held, members joined lengths of rope and improvised weights on the buoys. The buoys began to drift when they were placed in position and more weights had to be attached. The damage was a senseless act. said a club member. The solid mooring rope was of value only to boat owners.
