DRYING FLOOR.—This is a view inside Mr Alan Hampton’s drier at Barrhill. The floor is hinged to the wall on either side and is raised or lowered by ropes in the centre. When the seed is dry and the time has come for removing it the floor is lowered and the seed flows to the centre towards a metal trough containing a 5½in auger.
