A STOCKPILE OF SHINGLE at Kaiapoi for the northern motorway. The pile at present consists of about 200,000 cubic yards of shingle, which has come from the Waimakariri river-bed. It will be built up to possibly more than 400,000 cubic yards. Part of the new highway is seen in the background.
