OVERSHOOTS RUNWAY
Electra Has To Give Way (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 19. An Air New Zealand Electra from Sydney had to overfly the runway at Rongatai airport, Wellington, at 5.40 p.m. today when it attempted a landing. The aircraft had to give way to a light aircraft at the last minute. Control tower officials said the light aircraft had received priority landing instructions because it was closer to the airport. The Electra banked steeply as it overshot the runway. It circled the airport before landing safely a few minutes later.
