VALUATIONS IN DOLLARS

Department’s New Policy

The Valuation Department will be among the first Government departments to introduce the workings of decimal currency to the public. The department has announced that all valuation notices to householders issued between now and July, 1967. will show values in both dollars and pounds. Greymouth people who received their latest valuations last week found that values had been recorded in both currencies.

The total capital value of the Greymouth Borough is now £7,981,930 or 15,963,860 dollars —an increase of £275,990 on the March, 1965, figure which was based on the last general revision in December. 1960.

The unimproved value has moved from £1,056,535 to £1,060,535 an increase of £4OOO or 8000 dollars. The value of improvements rose by £271,990 or 543,980 dollars.

People who are dissatisfied with valuations will be able to discuss them with valuers at the borough office on February 8.

The branch manager of the Valuation Department in Christchurch (Mr V. R. Aitken) said yesterday that valuations for the Ashburton County would be issued la‘e next month or early in March.
