Arthur’s Pass Camp Ends
The seventh South Island summer camp of the Forest and Bird Protection Society ended at Arthur’s Pass last week. Campers visited the Punchbowl Falls, the Bridal Veil and nature walks and their leader, Mr D. Pringle, identified the plant life seen. They also visited Hawdon valley, 15 miles east of the pass, to study the combination of tussock grasslands and dense beech forest. After the camp officially closed a small party made a two-day tramp to the Antierow hut, near the upper Waimakariri river.
