TANNER CUP

Auckland Wins (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) AUCKLAND. B. Baker, of Auckland, won the Tanner Cup P class yachting championship at Auckland yesterday after victories in the first three races. A protest over the rigging of Baker’s sevenfoot yacht, lodged after the third race yesterday, was dismissed last night. If the protest had been upheld, the provisional result could have been altered. The Nelson yacht sailed by R. Preston and the Bay of Plenty's representative skippered by I. Williams, are provisionally tied for second place in the 14-boat contest. Final points for the joint second place-getters have yet to be confirmed. Points placings:—Auckland. 300, 1 (confirmed); Bay of Plenty and Nelson, 156.67, 2 (provisional); Hawke’s Bay, 125, 4: Otago, 97.22, 5: Canterbury, 91.66, 6.
