SONCERAI PROSPECT FOR VINCENT
“The Press” Special Servlet DUNEDIN. Soncerai, which has been consistently placed in her recent racing, and has been nominated for hack races at the Wellington Cup meeting this month, will be one of the best supported runners in the Clare Memorial Challenge Gold Cup, the mile and a quarter hack race and the second leg of the V incent Jockey (Juh s T.A.B. double at Omakau today.
Soncerai was an impressive winner of the distance improvers’ race on the second day of the Dunedin Jockey Club’s cup meeting.
She has not been further back than fourth in her last three races.
Top weight in this event is Limbo, a winner over a mile on the opening day of the Dunedin meeting, but a disappointing seventh in the Summer Cup at Invercargill on Wednesday when carrying Mr Duncan McFarlane's colours for the first time. Melhar’s fourth at his last start at Wlngatui showed that the Harken gelding was on the way back to the good form he showed last season.
The track is carrying a good sole of grass and is rapidly recovering from rain early in the week. The prospects are for firm going.
