Security To Re Tightened (N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 7. The Minister of Justice (Mr Hanan) said today that steps were being taken to strengthen security at the Dunedin women’s prison after the escape of four inmates yesterday afternoon. Stressing that Dunedin was not a maximum security prison, Mr Hanan said the majority of the women inmates were not regarded as security risks and stringent security precautions were neither necessary or desirable. “But at the same time the staff has to have adequate protection from concerted attacks and some changes will be made.” he said.
