i Firm Suggests Television ( (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 6. Closed-circuit television has been suggested a s an additional method of maintaining a security check on works in the National Art Gallery. A Wellington firm made the proposal after reports that the gallery authorities had increased the staff of attendants from three to four to curb minor outbreaks of damage. The director, Mr S. B. Maclennan, said today that the television circuit idea would be placed before the management committee for consideration. The committee holds its next meeting on February 2. “I think it is a very good idea —anything that can be done to prevent our art works from being damaged bj’ vandals is of great help,” said Mr Maclennan.
