A report from Brazil says that Antonio Pedro de Silva has retired on medical advice from his job at a fairground. He swallowed things. Surgeons operated on him and removed from his stomach,2Bs nails, 22 pieces of razor blades, five hanks of hair, and a large screw. They did not find a watch he swallowed last August. The “American Medical Journal” reported in 1960 that a patient who complained of swollen akles had in his stomach a 31b piece of metal, 26 keys, three sets of rosary beads, 16 religious medals, a bracelet, a necklace, three pairs of tweezers, four nail clippers, 39 nail files, three metal chains and 86 coins. The journal said this was the worst known case of compulsive eating.
