The sea lion pup born at the Auckland zoo on Tuesday appeared to be progressing satisfactorily but there was still some cause for concern, the zoo director (Mr D. Wood) said. The pup is being carefully guarded by its nearly-blind mother, Rosie, on the rock island in the sea lion enclosure. “The pup seems contented but Rosie must be feeding it at night,” said Mr Wood. “We have seen little feeding during the day.”
