Escapers Caught In Sydney

SYDNEY, January 5.
The Melbourne prison escapers, Ronald Ryan and Peter Walker, were captured in Sydney late tonight.
The New South Wales riot squad was called to Concord after an anonymous telephone call that the prisoners were there.
The men, who escaped from Pentndge Gaol, Melbourne, on December 19, were captured in suburban Concord.
Police said they believed the pair, who thev alleged had killed a warder in their escape from the maximum security prison, had been in Sydney several days.
Rvan and Walker were heavily armed with rifles and revolvers but did not fire a shot.
The two men fought with police while they attempted to arrest them.
Detectives said that punches were thrown and the men struggled violently a " to get away but were overpowered by dozens of burly detectives.
