30 Softballers To Train For American Tour
“The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON. A squad of 30 players were selected by the New Zealand Men’s Softball Association after the national championships were completed at Wellington on Saturday.
They will form the training squad from which the final 15 will be selected to tour America later this year. No Canterbury players were named. The squad is: Pitchers: W. Massey (Hutt
Valley), K. Herlihy and G. Ward (Wellington), G. Tattersfield (Otago), P. McKinley (Auckland), G. Voyle (Waikato). Catchers: P. Priddey and P. Clark (Wellington), T. Nunns
(Hutt Valley). M. Moody (Auckland), T. Wallbank (Waikato). First-base: N. Sonntag (Otago), 1. Ellis (Southland), K. Barrowman (Hutt Valley). Second-base: W. Henderson (Wellington), W. Baldwin (Hutt Valley). Short-stop: R. Smith (Hutt Valley), D. McKerchar (Wellington). Third-base: P. Rodgers (Auckland), C. Ward (Wellington), C. Phillips (Wanganui), N. Retter (Waikato).
