C. S. DONALD HAS THREE WINS
The Belfast trainer, C. S. Donald, and the stable reinsman, R. P. Nyhan, were most successful at Addington Raceway on Saturday evening when they had wins with Indecision, Lusty Lad and Password.
Indecision followed an unlucky fourth in the Rangiora Cup with a narrow win over the favourite, Bright Highland, in the Plumpton Stakes, the second leg of the on-course double. Bright Highland has now finished second in her last four starts. Legendary went quite well for third, ahead of Powerful Light and Smart Lass. The first leg of this double, the Welcome Handicap, was won in impressive style by the smart four-year-old. Johnny Gee, which beat Alvean and Madam Scott. The Johnny Gee-Indecision combination paid £3l 14s for £l. Lusty Lad. a disappointment at Ashburton, took the lead at the end of half a mile in the Summer Handicap, and held on to beat Ingleburn by a short length. Ingleburn was left out in the open for most of the way and there was merit in her placing. Loyal Light showed speed to
finish third, ahead of Friendly Tom, which had trouble working clear of the rails.
Password followed some consistent racing with a nose victory over Rothesay in the Au Revolr Stakes. Password was never far from the lead and ran on gamely. Rothesay, after being last until near the final quarter, was inclined to hang in over the last few yards and gave M. Holmes an awkward drive.
The hot favourite. Courtier, pulled hard early and was two lengths back third, ahead of Southern Song and Forshy.
Trysail followed some consistent racing with a win over the favourite. Buchanan, in the U. Scott Stakes. Buchanan looked to have the measure of Trysail until he tangled near the halffurlong. Terri Lee held on for third, ahead of a solid finisher in Tuarangi Chief.
Don Caesar broke badly at the start
Break Through recorded a top performance to win the Raceway Handicap after losing about half a furlong at the start. Later he was forced very wide. He took the lead racing to the straight and showed superior stamina to win by one length from the consistent Phenoma, with Gala Song a fair third, ahead of Marshella and Phoebe Martial.
