Cairnbrae Sold

Cataiibrae will probaMy have his last race start in New Zealand in the President’s Free-for-All at the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting next Monday night.

The 1964 New Zealand Cup winner has been sold to American interests and he will leave for his new owner early in January on the same ship as Garcon d’Or and Jay Ar. Caimibrae, a nine-year-old gelding by U. Scott from Safeguard was a big winner for the Hinds trainer, W. E. Lowe, although for many of his wins he was trained at Belfast by C. S. Donald. He has had 13 wins and 15 placings for £15,050 in stakes. Six of his wins were over two miles, his best time over that distance being 4.12. Cainnbrae has raced rather disappointingly this season, but in most of his races he had tad to give away starts to ipost of his rivals.

Non-Tote Race For Trotters

Eight horses will contest the Three-year-old Trotters’ Trial over 10 furlongs at Addington Raceway on Saturday evening. The race will be started from behind the starting gate and will be run at 5.45 p.m. The field for the race, which will carry a stake of £lOO, is: —Fairplay (7), Grist (5), Highland Fortress (3), last Round (1), Marshall John (4), Roytelet (2), Whispering John (8), Young Morris (6) It.
