RACING Reefton Stablemates Thurs. Double Pick
After sound runs for minor placings at Washdyke yesterday the Reefton stablemates, Vivien Robe and Clipper, will be a popular combination for the T.A.B. double—the President’s Handicap and the St Andrew’s High-weight—on the second day of the South Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting tomorrow.
Clipper is a double acceptor but he is an almost certain starter in the high-weight in which he will be ridden by the Washdyke jockey, A. Cowan.
Clipper made a promising start on the circuit with a second in the Timaru Cup vesterday. Timaru Cup form is also represented in the highweight by Marlow (third) and Baalbek (fourth). They are obvious prospects to make Clipper work hard for victory. Flying Trix, the spnnt winner yesterday and the Blenheim-trained Carester may be the best of Vivien Robe’s rivals in the Presidents Handicap.
There will be an on-course double on the Albury Stakes and the Publicans’ Handicap for which Vanita and Stageland are a likely pair. Acceptances:
